Mikah Thomas, Max Kerkvliet, and Kieran Chandler were all selected on Friday
Despite missing out on the NCAA tournament, UConn men’s soccer won the 2025 MLS SuperDraft over the weekend. Mikah Thomas, Max Kerkvliet, and Kieran Chandler were all selected on Friday, the most draft picks UConn has had in the MLS SuperDraft since 2014.
Left back Thomas was selected 7th overall by Charlotte FC. Goalkeeper Kerkvliet was grabbed at 21 by Real Salt Lake, the first time since 2017 that UConn had two first round picks. Kerkvliet’s 0.814 save percentage ranked eighth among all Division I goalkeepers and he had eight clean sheets this season, the most among any freshman goalkeeper in DI.
Simsbury native Chandler, a two-time All-BIG EAST Third Team selection and co-Freshman of the Year a season ago, was picked in the second round, 43rd overall, by Minnesota United.
The trio will join Andre Blake of the Philadelphia Union and Jake Nerwinski (free agent) as active UConn alums in the MLS.
The Huskies went 8-4-6 this year and lost to Providence in the first round of the Big East Championship.
