The Huskies’ will go for their ninth win of the season on December 28th in Boston.
UConn football will play the University of North Carolina on Dec. 28 in an 11 a.m. kick-off at the Wasabi Fenway Bowl.
The Huskies will battle UNC for the fourth time ever, with the Tar Heels winning all three previous matchups. UConn could have a home-field advantage of sorts for this game.
“The chance to play in Boston will give our players, Marching Band, Cheer Squad, students, fans and all of UConn Nation the chance to share in an unforgettable experience close to home,” head coach Jim Mora said in a statement from the school.
The Huskies finished the season 8-4 — the team’s most successful regular season record in almost 15 years — while the Tar Heels ended 2024 with a 6-6 record, firing head coach Mack Brown last month.
In ACC play, UNC went 3-5, finishing 13th in the league after losing its final two games. They also had a four-game slide in the middle of the season that included a 70-50 loss to James Madison. The Huskies, on the other hand, have won four of their last five and have something to play for as they wrap up one of the best seasons in recent program history.
This will be UConn’s eighth bowl appearance and the second under Mora. The Huskies are 3-4 in bowl games all-time and will be playing their second game ever at Fenway Park. The first was a 39-16 loss to Boston College in 2017.
