The Huskies moved up one spot after beating Le Moyne last week.
UConn men’s basketball moved up one spot in this week’s AP Top 25 to No. 2 after handling its business in a 90-49 win over Le Moyne last week. The Huskies (3-0) received seven first-place votes and moved up after then No. 2 Alabama fell to then No. 13 Purdue last week. The Crimson Tide dropped down to No. 8 this week, while the Boilermakers rose to No. 6.
Creighton and Marquette remain ranked at No. 14 and No. 15 respectively this week, while St. John’s enters the fray for the first time this season at No. 22. Xavier and Providence received votes, but not enough to break into the poll.
Future opponent Baylor dropped one spot to No. 13, while Gonzaga moved up one spot to No. 3. Texas once again received votes.
McNeeley wins Big East Freshman of the Week
Standout freshman Liam McNeeley was named Big East Freshman of the Week for his performance in the win over the Dolphins last week. McNeeley scored 15 points in the win over Le Moyne and ranks second on the team in both scoring (14.3 points per game) and rebounds (8.0 per game). The highly-touted freshman has lived up to the hype so far, shooting 41.2 percent from three and posting double-doubles in two of his first three collegiate games.
