The Huskies will be without UMass for the first time since 2017, but will face Air Force for the first time.
The first sign of the 2025-26 athletic year came on Wednesday, as UConn released its 2025 football schedule. Jim Mora’s third season was one of the best in recent memory, with nine wins for the first time since 2007 and a bowl win for the first time since 2009. He’ll look to seize upon that momentum in 2025 with three chances against ACC opponents and six home contests in East Hartford.
In-state foe CCSU will open up the year on August 30 before the Huskies hit the road against former conference foes in Syracuse (September 6) and Delaware (September 13).
UConn is a perfect 4-0 against the Blue Devils, with the last meeting coming in 2022 as Mora’s first home game as head coach. The Huskies and Orange announced in November that they’d extend their series to five games, which started in 2022. Meanwhile, Delaware was a mainstay in the 1950s, 1970s and 1980s before becoming a conference battle in the 1990s. This is the first game between the schools at the FBS level.
The schedule is split with six games before a bye week and six games after. UConn will head into its break with home games against Ball State (September 20) and FIU (October 4), with a trip to western New York to face Buffalo (September 27) in the middle.
The dates with the Cardinals and Panthers are part of home-and-home series. UConn lost to Ball State by four in October 2022 in the first meeting in 20 years, while this is the Huskies’ second home game against FIU and the third overall in a four-game set that will finish in 2027. The road team won each of the first two contests, which came in 2022 and 2023. This is the second of a four-game series with Buffalo, which started last year. UConn took a dominant win over the Bulls, which was the 22nd matchup between the schools.
After the break, UConn has two road games against Boston College (October 18) and Rice (October 25), prior to a three-game homestand.
The Huskies and Boston College have been frequent foes, playing four times since 2016. The 2022 contest was the Huskies’ only win in 16 tries over the Eagles, though half of them were before 1930. As for Rice, this is the third in a four-game set. UConn won the first two, the only meetings in program history, and will finish it off in 2028.
UConn closes out the home slate with games against UAB (November 1), Duke (November 8) and Air Force (November 15).
The UAB date represents the completion of a home-and-home series which started last season. The Huskies got the best of the Blazers in Birmingham last November. Duke and UConn are in the midst of a six-game series, facing off in 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, 2029 and 2030. The Blue Devils swept the first two games to even up the all-time series at 2-2. Meanwhile, Air Force will be the 173rd team to appear on UConn football’s schedule, with a home-and-home series that will finish in 2026.
The regular season will finish with a trip to Florida Atlantic (November 22). This game, originally agreed to in 2021, was slated to take place in 2026 and was rescheduled in August. UConn won the opener of this home-and-home series in September.
