The Huskies also revealed the arena designation for all home games.
With the release of the Big East schedule on Wednesday, UConn women’s basketball’s full 2024-25 slate is out.
The Huskies will play the first of 18 league games on Sunday, Dec. 15 against Georgetown. They’ll face every conference member twice with the exception of DePaul and Xavier, who they’ll play just a single time. The regular season concludes against Marquette on Sunday, Mar. 2 at Gampel Pavilion.
Along with the Big East schedule, UConn also revealed the arena designations for all home games. The Huskies will play six games and an exhibition in Storrs (Fort Hays State, USF, Fairleigh Dickinson, Holy Cross, Seton Hall, Villanova, St. John’s) with seven games at the XL Center in Hartford (BU, Georgetown, USC, Providence, Xavier, Butler, Creighton).
Tip times and television information will be released at a later date.
When the Huskies take the road, they’ll play in some new venues.
Their contest at Georgetown will be held at Entertainment & Sports Arena, home to the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. The two schools were supposed to play there in 2021-22 but the game was ultimately canceled because UConn didn’t have enough healthy players due to a Covid outbreak.
When the Huskies journey to Creighton, they’ll take the court at CHI Health Center Arena, a 17,560-seat venue that serves as home of the Bluejays’ men’s basketball program.
The same goes for Providence. UConn will play downtown at Amica Mutual Pavilion instead of the small on-campus gym. The Huskies were scheduled for a game at the AMP in 2022-23 but the school kicked the women’s teams out so that the Friars’ men’s basketball squad could play there instead after inclement weather impacted the schedule.
Unlike the previous two seasons, UConn’s matchup with St. John’s will be at the on-campus Carnesecca Arena instead of UBS Arena.
The new campaign will unofficially kick off with First Night on Friday, Oct. 18, though the Huskies won’t take the court for game action until an exhibition on Sunday, Nov. 3 against Fort Hays State. The regular season will begin in earnest on Thursday, Nov. 7 against BU at the XL Center.
