The Huskies will open with Oregon State then play either Ole Miss or Boston College in the second game.
UConn women’s basketball’s final two non-conference opponents are set.
On Tuesday, the Huskies announced their bracket for the 2024 Baha Mar Women’s Championship in the Bahamas. They’ll face Oregon State in the opening game on Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET followed by either Ole Miss or Boston College on Nov. 27 at either 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. ET.
Both games will be played at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center in Nassau, Bahamas and streamed on FloHoops.
Oregon State is coming off a trip to the Elite Eight, though it’s set for a major rebuild after losing most of its roster as a result of the Pac-12 break up. Eight players departed through the transfer portal, including six of its top seven scorers (the other one graduated). What could’ve been a fun battle against a program on the rise will likely be a comfortable victory for the Huskies instead.
The two schools have faced off twice with UConn taking both victories. The most notable meeting came in the 2016 national semifinal, when the Huskies rolled to a 80-51 win despite losing then-freshman Katie Lou Samuelson to a broken foot. The other contest happened back on Nov. 25, 1995 out in Honolulu, where UConn came out on top 88-70.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss is coming off 24-9 season in which it reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out to Notre Dame. The Huskies have played them once before — a 90-50 victory at the Paradise Jam in 2018.
Then there’s Boston College, a former member of the Big East. The two schools have faced-off 51 times with UConn holding a 37-14 all-time record. They haven’t met on the hardwood since Nov. 17, 2005 — a non-conference contest during the Eagles’ first season in the ACC. BC went 14-19 last year.
The Huskies’ full slate will be out on Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET when the Big East releases its full 2024-25 schedule.
