Not going to make this long. Backups and rookies played. Quick takeaways after the first half…
- The backup OL was cohesive. Simms and Banks praised them. Simms: “I am impressed with all of these young Offensive Linemen.” Carl Banks: “New coach. Fundamentals. Connected. All doing the same thing.” We have praised the hire of Carmen “Carm” Bricillo since the offseason. Dante Scarnecchia tree. Transformed the fringe linemen including Jermaine Eluemunor and Greg Van Roten into solid NFL players. It won’t be flashy but it will be workmanlike and efficient. And that is what we have seen early. The ceiling won’t be necessarily elite, but the floor is going to be serviceable. This will be a huge improvement.
- Eric Gray looked spry. 24 yard wheel route. 48 yard juke TD off of draw. Earning a roster spot.
- Dyontae Johnson. Contributed.
- Nubin and Phillips are physical. They will be green and exposed as rookies but they won’t be shy in tackling.
- Muasau was active.
- Lock was unimpressive given his experience. He did not get rid of the ball when his receiving options were covered.
- Giants Defense pitched a shutout in first half (FG off of a turnover).
- Did I say the backup OL was crisp? If that is all we could get from this game, fantastic. Simms: “I like what I see in practice (from this group).”
