Will the New York Giants have Darren Waller on their roster for the 2024 season? Fans in the Big Apple are still waiting for the answer to that question.
Waller has been flirting with retirement this offseason. At 31 years old, he may want to leave the game on his terms.
While at OTAs on Thursday, Giants head coach Brian Daboll was asked about Waller’s status for the new season.
Unsurprisingly, Daboll revealed that Waller is still undecided. He did, however, say the team is willing to give the former Pro Bowl tight end all the time he needs in order to make a decision.
“I would say the same thing I said last month, let Darren take what he needs to take and once the decision is made, we’ll go from there,” Daboll said, via Pro Football Talk. “We have conversations, obviously, but when Darren makes his decision, that’s what we’ll go with.”
Last season, Waller had 52 catches for 552 yards and a touchdown. It was an underwhelming year if you go by his standards.
In the event the Giants lose Waller to retirement, they’ll need to lean on Daniel Bellinger, Theo Johnson and Jack Stoll at tight end.
