Fox Sports’ Nick Wright foresees a world in which Bill Belichick and Dak Prescott are working together in 2025.
Prescott will be a free agent next offseason unless he and the Dallas Cowboys work out a new contract. Meanwhile, Belichick is out of coaching for the first time in 50 years after his tenure with the New England Patriots ended and he was not hired by any of the teams looking for a new leader.
On “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” Tuesday, Wright theorized that it is “on the board” for Belichick and Prescott to head to New York as a “package deal” with the Giants in 2025.
“I think Bill and Dak could go and you could remake an entire organization, head coach and quarterback, a year from now with Dak Prescott the free agent and Bill Belichick the head coach and I think the New York Giants are very viable possibility there,” Wright said. “So just put that out there. Not really a conspiracy theory, just a long-term prediction.”
The Giants have long had an affinity for Belichick, their former defensive coordinator, and vice versa. It was reported last month that Belichick is “biding his time” in 2024 with the hopes that he’ll be coaching the Giants, Cowboys or Eagles the following year.
New York also doesn’t have a long-term answer at quarterback and will likely move off of Daniel Jones’ contract when it becomes possible to do so next offseason. Prescott will be costly, but he would stabilize the position for a franchise that badly needs a reliable signal caller.
Then again, it’s also possible to envision a world where Belichick and Prescott are teaming up together in Dallas as well. Perhaps the Cowboys elect to keep their QB around, and we all know how much Jerry Jones covets having “The Hoodie” on the sideline coaching his team.
These storylines could hover over the NFC East this season.
