Earlier this month, NFL fans learned that New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels made a $10,000 bet on the upcoming season.
“Going against him is gonna be fun,” Nabers said after the NFL Draft, via New York Daily News. “We got a bet going for Rookie of the Year. Whoever loses gotta pay, I think it’s $10,000 cash.”
Speaking to reporters this Friday afternoon, Nabers revealed that his bet with Daniels is no longer off the table. He scrapped the deal after he was “educated on sports gambling.”
It didn’t take long for fans to come up with a theory of their own. They believe Nabers canceled the bet after practicing with Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
“One practice with DJ and he folded,” one fan said.
“1 practice with Daniel Jones does to a man,” a second fan tweeted.
Another fan wrote, “Took just one practice with Daniel Jones huh.”
Unfortunately for Jones, he constantly gets mocked on social media. Even the fan base in New York cracks jokes at his expense.
The only way Jones can silence his critics is by having a bounce-back season.
Nabers, on the other hand, won’t have to worry about winning $10,000. He signed a four-year, fully guaranteed $29.2 million deal this morning.
