Former sixth-round pick wide receiver, Isaiah Hodgins may be a surprising cut candidate this summer. The NFL training camp is around the corner, so it will force rosters to make some tough decisions leading up to the 2024 season. One source says that the New York Giants will make the shocking decision to move on from Hodgins, a player developing since 2022. It looks like he could be a lock for this upcoming year but the Giants were busy this season when beefing up the wide receiver position, the battle for the last spot may be fun to watch.
New York made the move to bring in Allen Robinson to create some competition for the position after this year’s draft. No one’s job is safe this training camp so anything is up in the air to ensure that quarterback Daniel Jones has reliable weapons to start the year. Hodgins only has six career special teams snaps so this means the last wideout position could go to Gunner Olszewski or Isaiah McKenzie. It may come down to “mano a mano” for the last roster spot between Robinson and Hodgins.
However, they have some similarities in the stages of their career considering they are both red zone threats. The Giants still need to figure out how much Robinson has in his tank so this could be the final few chances for him in the league. The 30-year-old may be at a disadvantage but things will determine this upcoming training camp. It may sound logical for the Giants to stick with Hodgins given that he’s still young and developing in the Giants’ offensive system.
It could be possible that both make the roster but it’s unlikely since they need a return specialist on the team.

Potential Destinations
New Orleans Saints
Hodgins is not changing a roster drastically but he could be a potential game-changer for the New Orleans offense that’s lacking wideout experience. They might as well bring in someone like him to establish his career working with Derek Carr whose only reliable weapon is Chris Olave. If they don’t add another wideout, Dennis Allen may need to think again because weapons like Rashid Shaheed aren’t ready for the postseason.
Hodgins could be a true reliable wideout who can catch the ball in crucial moments and help lead the offense as the future alongside Olave.
Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert doesn’t look like he’ll be leading this offense to a postseason anytime soon with the receivers they have. Ladd McConkey is the only wideout that’s been showing promise at practice so they could just be rebuilding which is why they’re bringing in any receiver for cheap. Mike Williams and Keenan Allen not being around is only hurting the team but they had no choice but to let them go. The Chargers may be looking to rebuild for years but they should take a chance on Hodgins to reestablish himself alongside McConkey.
Kansas City Chiefs
Hodgins joining a super team like the Chiefs would be a dream for him, especially knowing that he would be another speedster to tag with Kadarius Toney and Marquise Brown. Rashee Rice will miss some time so they might as well get some speed going for Patrick Mahomes to keep this offense driving. Mecole Hardman is returning, but that probably isn’t enough to reinforce this corps. Hodgins can come in as an underrated wideout to change the future of the receiver landscape.
