Yah, the final score was 29-20. But 36-13 was the true score.
The Giants don’t make anything easy. The score is not indicative of how completely the Giants whipped the Seahawks. This was a competent Seahawks team, with 3 wins. Seattle is a tough place to play on the road, with a huge home field advantage. The Giants had 2 penalties all day despite the crowd noise. (One was an insane taunting call on Slayton for a first down gesture.) Yet the Giants went in there and manhandled them. Time of possession was 37mins -22mins, and that was with prevent at the end of the game.
The Gray TD, which was ruled a fumble before he crossed the plane, was literally a 14 point swing when Seattle returned the alleged “fumble” 101 yards for a TD. Sorry, not sorry. The refs, the replay guys in NYC, and the NFL chipless wonders.. they can all kiss my little a**. I believe it was a TD, and maybe in the year 2072 the NFL will get into the 21st Century with an electronic determination for whether it was a TD. I could write that mother freaking algorithm myself, and AI could “learn” when the ball comes out too.
The Giants Offensive Line is protecting Jones. The Giants Defensive Line collected 7 sacks. Jones was crisp and efficient. Jones’ big criticism is the deep throw. He hit 2 for 2 to Slayton, including a TD. Those were two perfectly placed balls. That is the difference between a caretaker QB and a winning QB. Make those big time throws and you win these games. Add it all together and this was a beatdown, except the score, because of the stupid 14 point swing play (and some Prevent offense near the end).
Dexter Lawrence cannot be blocked by one guy. 3 sacks. Menace. According to a report passed along by BBB, he singlehandedly ruined the Seattle offense.
This draft class is coming together. Tracy and Johnson got meaningful snaps and filled the void from Nabers being a concussion protocol scratch one more week. Tracy was sooo good in space. BBB once again was spot on in touting this prospect before and then immediately after the draft as a very good pick. With Singletary out, Tracy got 18 carries and racked up 129 yards. He saw the field beautifully, weaving around players like he had a drone above him telling him precisely where to dissect the defense. That is a gift. We just saw it for the first time, with hopefully much more to come.
Cincinnati has no defense. With Nabers back next week, the OL protection for Jones, Jones playing better, more tools, plus good Daboll schemes/playcalling, the Giants offense should have a big game next Sunday night.
It is kind of bizarre how the Giants lost 2 games to DAL and WAS which they could have easily won. Yes, this team could also be 4-1. You are your record. They are 2-3. But all of a sudden, in the next 5 games, only Jayden Daniels and the Commanders really scares me. It is not who you play, but when you play them. And right now, the Giants are a much tougher out. They are clearly a better team than the one at the start of the season. They are coming together. If you can summarize everything, it is the Offensive Line. Everything flows from that. If Jones can puhleez hit Nabers on some deep balls it will be lights out. Why? Because of the Offensive Line.
Some more defibrillator. 2 terrific screens in a row! Plus a TE screen on a checkdown of a flea flicker. OL baby.
Three blemishes: (1) Nick Falato mentioned something I was thinking about throughout the game- Jones cannot continue to take a beating like this, with sooo many hits while running the ball. Please slide. If you need that extra yard on 3rd down, I get it, you suck it up and take the hit to assure you move the chains. But he is taking hits on every run. It is reckless. (2) The Giants had a few more dropped balls. Catch the ball. (3) Prevent Offense at the end almost led a to tie game. Simmons made a fantastic play, blocking the FG. Ford-Wheaton plucked the ball out of the air for an easy TD.
Great team win. Dominating win. In a hostile road environment. When you win at the line of scrimmage, you win these games.
