Which late-rounder is overperforming? Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants.
It’s rare to see fifth-round rookies step into a pivotal role, but Tracy has done just that with 545 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season. A former receiver turned running back at Iowa and Purdue, Tracy’s versatility has shone through as a runner and pass catcher. He was slated as a backup to Devin Singletary, but his role has continued to increase after breaking out with 129 rushing yards in Week 6. Tracy, who went No. 166 in the draft, is one of the few bright spots on the New York offense.
Giants expected ‘good return on investment’ with RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. | USAToday.com
Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown spoke about Tracy on The Athletic’s podcast, The Playcallers, recently and how the team vetted him from every possible angle.
“We knew there would be good return on investment at the point where we could get him because the marketplace would devalue him as an older player with a limited resume,” Brown said.

Sure, losing games now benefits NFL Draft status later. But what about all the young players on the roster? YOU tell Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy and Tyler Nubin and Dru Phillips after every loss that it’s for the greater good.

NFC East roundtable: Commanders-Eagles showdown, how to fix Cowboys and Giants – The Athletic
The most encouraging aspect of the season is the performance of the rookie class. First-round pick Malik Nabers already looks like a No. 1 wide receiver, and fifth-round pick Tyrone Tracy Jr. has strengthened the belief that teams don’t need to spend to have a quality running back. Mid-round picks Tyler Nubin, Dru Phillips and Theo Johnson are starters and have flashed varying degrees of promise.
Giants OT Jermaine Eluemunor Reflects On Position Switch at Thanksgiving Food Event | SI.com
Eluemunor, who before the switch voiced a preference to stay at right tackle but added that he’d be open to moving to the left side if asked by the coaches, will play for the remainder of the season.
“It’s more so taking it a week at a time and seeing where I’m mostly needed,” Eluemunor said. “It’s not really matchup-based. It’s just what line (configuration) gives the team the best chance to win…Obviously, this season I believe I was playing right tackle at a high level. But who says I can’t do that at left tackle if I really buy into it and show, not only myself but the rest of the league that I can play left tackle at a high level, too, in a league that is desperate for tackles?”
2025 NFL Draft: Projection model ranks 5 teams most likely to pick No. 1 | The Athletic
Giants’ odds of picking No. 1: 15 percent
As I mentioned, losing to the Panthers was huge for the Giants’ draft position. Not only do they now own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Panthers — if it comes to that, strength of schedule is the first tiebreaker in determining draft positioning. The Giants face an average schedule the rest of the way (18th hardest), which, paired with the loss to the Panthers, puts them at No. 2 in these rankings.
Giants Mailbag: Are Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll out barring a huge turnaround? | SNY.tv
The Giants found something that worked during their four Super Bowls, especially the most recent two, and refused to move off it despite the rest of the league evolving. This extended to even sticking with Eli Manning longer than they should have.
That, to me, falls on Mara. He deserves blame for that. The one thing he does deserve immense credit for, though, is he lets the people he hired do what they were hired to do. That’s not the case with so many other teams. He lets his opinion be known, but doesn’t meddle as much as some believe.

Justin Tuck strongly backs Eli Manning as first ballot Hall of Famer | USAToday.com
“Outside the stats — and I think the stats back up that notion — you think about his longevity, you think about his yards, his touchdowns, his Super Bowls, and the MVPs. I think that alone answers that question,” said Tuck. “His leadership. He wasn’t a loud leader, but think about him showing up, being at that facility day in and day out. Maybe the first person in and the last person to leave, every day for 16 years. The model of consistency adds to that list.”
Ex-Giants player: Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen should be fired ASAP | NJ.com
Former Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty is among those who believe the franchise is in desperate need of regime change.
“The Giants should fire everybody effective immediately,” Canty said. “There’s no sense in going through a rebuild with the head coach and a general manager on the hot seat. It’s been three years for (Brian) Daboll and (Joe) Schoen and frankly, that’s long enough.”
Boomer: Giants problems ‘really come down to’ Daniel Jones | WFAN.com
Boomer says the blame game is a simple one, and it does start with Jones, regardless of what the general manager says.
“It really comes down to one position,” Boomer said. “It’s not like they would be steamrolling everybody, but if you put Patrick Mahomes on this team, it would be a completely different outcome. If you put Joe Burrow on this team, Josh Allen, completely different. It comes back to the most important position, the highest-paid position in the sport. The Giants, unfortunately – and they probably know this – don’t have that guy.”
The Giants’ Daniel Jones era cost them a much brighter future | SBNation.com
The key mistake when it comes to Daniel Jones was drafting him at all. Giants fans, you might want to go ahead and read something else — because we’re about to get to an absolute horror story of what could have been.
