Touchdowns & Takeaways: Jalin Hyatt goes deep; Malik Nabers gets on the board | Giants.com
The first-team offense eventually broke through with Jones throwing touchdowns to Nabers and tight end Lawrence Cager, who made a great catch falling out of the back of the end zone while keeping his feet in bounds. Lock also threw touchdown passes to rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., a converted wide receiver, and Dennis Houston from inside the 10-yard line.
Tommy DeVito got on the board during the same red-zone drills with touchdowns to tight ends Tyree Jackson and Daniel Bellinger. In between, DeVito used his legs for a score.
NY Giants training camp: Malik Nabers already looks like focal point of offense | The Athletic
Nabers caught a short touchdown pass from Daniel Jones after beating cornerback Tre Hawkins on a slant route on Thursday. Nabers could have had another touchdown after again beating Hawkins, but Jones’ pass was behind the receiver, who failed to secure the catch.
Nabers has gotten the ball on a reverse in each of the first two practices. He also made a catch on the slide route the Giants have used regularly the past two seasons, with a receiver running parallel to the line of scrimmage and catching a pass in the flat after a play-fake in the opposite direction. That was an exceptionally effective play for the Giants in 2022, and it could become more dynamic with the explosive Nabers getting the ball in space.
First-Round Pick Justin Pugh Wants to Return to Giants | Heavy.com
Pugh appeared on “The Zach Gelb Show” and discussed his appetite for playing again in 2024. The 33-year-old explained how his next destination needs to be “a place that I’m familiar with, a place that I’m comfortable with. I probably would say that place is the New York Giants if I were to come back and play this year.”
While he has other options, notably another former team the Arizona Cardinals, Pugh admitted “the New York Giants are really the team I have circled on my shortlist.” Significantly, Pugh also made it clear left guard “is the position I want to play.”
Five Day 3 NFL rookies who could earn starting roles in 2024 training camps | PFF
The Giants drafted Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the fifth round after he tested as a high-percentile athlete at the NFL Scouting Combine. And based on New York’s depth chart, he has an easier path to cracking the starting lineup than is typical for a late-rounder. According to early camp reports, Tracy will have every chance to earn a starting job, or at least a heavy rotational role, heading into the season.
Giants’ Dane Belton ready to seize Xavier McKinney’s old job: ‘I feel like I deserve this spot’ | NJ.com
Xavier McKinney got huge money to leave the Giants for the Packers in free agency this past offseason.
But that left a huge hole in the Giants’ secondary, since McKinney — an ascending free safety — was one of their best overall players last season.

1 Sophomore Breakout Candidate for Every NFL Team | ProFootballNetwork.com
While the New York Giants were one of the worst teams in the NFL last season, rookie cornerback Deonte Banks was one of the lone bright spots for Big Blue. Banks was put in a tough situation in former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale’s scheme. Now he’ll be looking to build on his impressive rookie campaign under a new DC.
Giants’ Isaiah Simmons enjoying expanded role under Shane Bowen | USAToday.com
Before joining the Giants in 2023, Simmons played under Vance Joseph in Arizona. The role Bowen has in mind for Simmons is similar to what Joseph did in 2021, and the veteran responded well to the task recording 105 tackles, one interception, four forced fumbles, and 1.5 sacks that season.
“I think it does give me more consistency,” Simmons said of his new role for Bowen. “Allows me to settle in and. . . just allows me to master something first and then get into doing other things because I played nickel, and it’s not like I changed positions within different things we were doing.”

Brian Daboll’s bet with friend fueled Giants coach’s big weight loss | New York Post
By any other measure, it is a remarkable physical makeover that he credits to making his competitive juices work in his favor. “It started with the staff and the weight-loss challenge we did,” Daboll said.
But Daboll also made a second bet with a motorcycle-riding friend in a group of 30 or 40 people that he remains in touch from attending high school in the Buffalo area.
Strange to hear Giants leadership skirt expectations | New York Daily News
A proud organization entering its 100th NFL season preparing to celebrate their tradition and progress. And yet when GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll were asked this week about their expectations for this landmark season — their third in charge — they avoided setting any at all.
