It sounds like Malik Nabers isn’t a huge fan of the New York Giants’ new throwback jerseys.
New York’s “Century Red” throwbacks, which combined several different uniform concepts from the franchise’s early years, were unveiled last week to plenty of ridicule.
Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft, was asked by Sports Illustrated for his opinion on the alternates at the recent NFLPA Rookie Premiere.
“It’s gonna be hard to swag it out, that’s all I got to say about it,” Nabers said.
Asked how he could make it look good, Nabers said, “I don’t know. I’mma see when I put it on.”
The good news for Nabers is that the Giants will only be wearing their “Century Red” throwbacks once or twice this coming season.
Since they were created to celebrate the team’s 100th anniversary, the uniforms will be going back into storage after that, presumably for good.
Meanwhile, Giants fans are more focused about Nabers’ ability to add a home run threat to an offense that has been lacking one on the perimeter since it traded Odell Beckham Jr. five years ago.
The LSU star has been participating in team activities and recently signed his rookie contract.
“When I put my name on that paper I was kind of shaking a little bit and I got emotional,” Nabers said earlier this month. “The job’s not done but another stage in my life was done. For me to make it to this part of my life and my journey, it was a pat on my back in that moment.”
