The New York Giants fall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-7, and now hold a 2-9 record on the season.
In-game updates
Fourth quarter
The game finally, mercifully, ended with the Giants attempting to score a last second touchdown for pride. Instead, the ball sailed out the back of the endzone twice as time expired.

The Giants fail to capitalize on the opportunity Tommy DeVito misses on a 4th and 9. Baker Mayfield, who had been ruled questionable with a stinger has retaken the field.
Doesn’t seem smart to put a QB with a stinger back into a 30-7 game with 7:25 remaining, but what do I know? https://t.co/WbTQUfSLJu
— Ralph Vacchiano (@RalphVacchiano) November 24, 2024
The body language from the Giants WRs after that fourth-down incompletion was awful.
— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) November 24, 2024
A bad Bucaneers miscue bailed out the Giants defense, as a botched hand-off gave the Giants the ball back following a 56-yard run by Bucky Irving.
But, a fumbled pitch by Baker Mayfield and a recovery by Giants DL D.J. Davidson bails Bowen’s defense out.
You know, for this series at least. https://t.co/ybN3FAdcIA
— Ralph Vacchiano (@RalphVacchiano) November 24, 2024
Giants put Darius Muasau in for Micah McFadden. He fails to set the edge/make the tackle and Bucky Irving breaks off a 56-yard run with Baker Mayfield somehow out front lead blocking downfield.

The Giants finally get on the board in the fourth quarter with a touchdown run by Devin Singletary. Tommy DeVito nearly ran it in himself, but Buccaneers safety Jordan Whitehead brought him down at the 1-yard line — injuring himself in the process.
Hey, the Giants scored! a 1-yard run by Devin Singletary after a 17-yard Tommy DeVito run. It’s 30-7! Whooooooooo!

Third quarter
The Buccaneers took full advantage of Tracy’s fumble and converted into a 95-yard touchdown drive. The Giants were once again able to force 3rd downs, and frequently 3rd and long, but were once again unable to get off the field. A defensive pass interference penalty by Adoree Jackson in the endzone gave the Buccaneers the ball at the 1-yard line, leading to another rushing touchdown on the next play.
Bucs piling on now. After Tracy fumble, Rachaad White’s 1-yard run makes in 30-0 w/3:45 left in Q3. Fans heading for the exits. Bucs went 95 yards in 12 plays, holding the ball for 7:10.

A 1-yard touchdown run by RB Rachaad White puts the Buccaneers up 30-0.
The Bucs have 369 yards with 18:45 still left in this game.
Baker Mayfield is 24 of 30 for 296 yards.
This defense is an absolute disaster.

The Giants will get the ball to start the second half after winning the coin toss and deferring to start the game.
They got out to a hot start to start the half, with plays of 21, 13, 12, 8, and 8 yards to get into scoring position. Unfortunately, Tyrone Tracy lost control of the ball at the 5-yard line to kill a promising drive.
That was a heck of a half-opening drive by Tommy DeVito …
… right up until RB Tyrone Tracy fumbled at the Buccaneers’ 5 yard line.
Ouch.

Malik Nabers gets his first touch on the first play of the second half. A 21-yard gain. #Giants
— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) November 24, 2024
Tommy DeVito is cooking.
First three passes of the second half are 21 yards to Malik Nabers, 8 yards to Malik Nabers, and 13 yards to Malik Nabers.
Oddly, those are the first three passes he’s thrown in Malik Nabers’ direction all game.

Second quarter
Bucs 24, NYG 0:
Halftime stats:
— Tommy DeVito 3-5, 31 yards, 3 sacks
— Bucs 290 total yards; Giants 46
— Malik Nabers doesn’t even have a target
— 1st downs: Bucs 17, NYG 3
— Tyrone Tracy 5 carries, 31 yards
— Time of possession: Bucs 19:03, NYG 10:57
Maybe Daniel Jones is the lucky one.— Ed Valentine (@edvalentine.bsky.social) 2024-11-24T19:24:50.636Z
The Buccaneers put an exclamation point on the second quarter with a long touchdown drive to extend their lead to 23-0 with 0:12 left on the clock. The drive culminated with Baker Mayfield carrying the ball 10 yards for a touchdown run. They missed the ensuing extra point, but things are looking bleak at the Meadowlands.
Baker Mayfield scrambles 10 yards for a score. Bucs lead 23-0 with :12 left in the half after missed extra point. This is getting uglier and uglier, and you begin to wonder if Brian Daboll is going to survive this mess.

23-0 at halftime.
This is ROUGH. The #Giants look lifeless.

The Giants showed a flicker of life late in the second quarter with good gains from Tyrone Tracy and Theo Johnson. However, those flickers were extinguished by a another sack of DeVito by Vita Vea.

Giants cross into Tampa Bay territory for 1st time on 23-yard pass from Tommy DeVito to Theo Johnson. Tackled at Bucs’ 37.

Drive stalls, and the booing starts.
— Ed Valentine (@edvalentine.bsky.social) 2024-11-24T19:02:58.326Z
The Giants are down 17-0. At home. Getting booed. Place is dead. To a Bucs team that had lost 4 straight.
Speaks for itself.
— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) November 24, 2024
Things are starting to get out of hand for the Giants as the Buccaneers score their second touchdown to extend their lead to 17-0. The Giants’ defense is barely slowing the Buccaneers defense and can’t seem to do much through the air or on the ground.
The highlight of the Buccaneers’ touchdown drive was a run from Baker Mayfield that ended in some jawing and shoving on the Buccaneers’ sideline. Tampa was in the endzone a few plays later.
Bucky Irving 6-yard TD run. Bucs now up 17-0 with 6:23 left in the half. Giants helpless and lifeless. Bucs go an easy 82 yards in 7 plays. Getting really ugly for the Giants.

Isaiah Simmons having tough time getting off Tampa Bay sideline after slapping the ball away from QB Baker Mayfield as he went out of bounds while scrambling for a 1st down. Bucs didn’t like it.

On third down, great hit by Bobby Okereke to fill the gap and force a fumble at the goal line. But an even better play by Baker Mayfield to recover the fumble. Bucs up 10.
— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) November 24, 2024
The #Giants could have used that… pic.twitter.com/adY6zoJhOu
— Nick Falato (@nickfalato) November 24, 2024
What a play by Baker Mayfield. He was 20 yards away in the backfield when that ball squirted loose and he alertly sprinted and dove on it. Huge play.
— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) November 24, 2024
Stunned that Daboll went for that. Figured he’d coach ultra conservatively today.

The Giants’ first possession started out promisingly with a nice run from Tyrone Tracy. However, it soon sputtered and ended with Tommy DeVito taking a hard hit from Calijah Kancey.
Giants get one first down on a 16-yard Tyrone Tracy run, then punt. DeVito sacked to end the drive.

Eluemunor appears to be in significant pain on the bench. Could have Chris Hubbard re-inserted at LT https://t.co/Ti2MbFlgcw

The Buccaneers got the ball to start the game and executed a 14-play touchdown drive that took 8:23 off the clock. The Buccaneers were forced to burn a time out, but the Giants were unable to get them off the field.
So, not much of a spark. Bucs just marched down the field with little resistance. DeVito will take the field trailing 7-0.

Ex-Giant Sterling Shepard gets a 7-yard catch on the game’s 2nd play.

Bucs go on 4th and 1 at NYG 28 and make the first down. Long drive in progress for Tampa Bay.

Sean Tucker 1-yard run gives Bucs the lead with 6:37 left in Q1. Methodical, dominant 14-play, 70-yard drive for Tampa Bay. Giants with no answers for Baker Mayfield & Co. 7-0.

It’s a balmy 52 degrees on a windy afternoon at MetLife Stadium. The winds are steady at 15 miles per hour and gusts as high as 30mph. We’ll see how the conditions effect the game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will get the ball to start the game after the Giants win the coin toss and defer.
It’s windy at MetLife. Welcome back, Thomas McGaugey! Watching Graham Gano warmup, I wouldn’t expect this to be a long field goal game.
— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) November 24, 2024
Giants win toss, defer (of course). So, we have to wait just a bit to see if we get a repeat of DeVito-Mania.

The New York Giants begin the post-Daniel Jones era Sunday at MetLife Stadium when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
The 2-8 Giants, with former third-stringer Tommy DeVito starting at quarterback, are 5.5-point underdogs, per FanDuel Sportsbook. The Giants have lost five straight games, and are 0-5 at home this season. The Buccaneers have lost four straight and five of six.
Both teams will get key players back. Edge defender Kayvon Thibodeaux returns from a fractured wrist, and Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans will be back from a hamstring injury.
The game will feature the return of former Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard, who has 16 receptions for the Buccaneers this season. Shepard is fifth in Giants’ franchise history with 372 catches as a Giant.
