The New York Giants completed their fifth practice — the first in full pads — of training camp on Monday morning and got through the nearly two-hour session without any fights.
Head coach Brian Daboll said before practice that this year’s sessions would be much different from the “country club” camp that was run last year. Changes include more one-on-ones in addition to 7-on-7’s and 11-on-11’s. There was also a specific emphasis placed on first and second downs.
Nose tackle Dexter Lawrence (illness) and center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) were among those who joined right tackle Evan Neal on the sideline.
During practice, both tight end Lawrence Cager (calf) and linebacker Brian Burns (ankle or foot) also got banged up and did not return to the field.
Here’s a look at some of the sights and sounds from Monday’s practice.
