After the 1983 season, Brad Van Pelt had a good season. So he went to George Young to ask for a raise. Young declined, saying that the Giants went 3-12-1, so he surely could lose without Van Pelt just as easily as he could lose with him.
Tomorrow the Giants play the Panthers. Two 2-7 teams seemingly vying for draft pick position. Yes, for one week, one of these two will win and will beat their chest. Neither are going anywhere except to an early visit with Roger Goodell on Draft Day.
Regardless of what happens in Germany tomorrow, the Giants will be able to lose with or without Daniel Jones. Joe Schoen needs to speak to Daniel Jones and/or his agent and inform him that Jones has a choice: rescind the injury clause in his contract or the Giants will bench you the rest of the season. Whether or not the Giants have confidence in Drew Lock, it is patently obvious that the team does not have confidence in Jones. At this point, it is simply reckless to expose the team to that injury clause. It would cost the Giants $23M. That is a death knell to the 2025 cap should it have to be paid. Other teams have already benched their QB when faced with the same prospect.
Jalin Hyatt and Evan Neal make their first starts tomorrow. Out with the old, in with the new old. Eluemunor will move to Left Tackle. Good luck all.
Can we end this season already? I will not be paying the NFL Network ransom for tomorrow’s game. One of these days the NFL will offer a “season’s ticket” TV plan for just your favorite out-of-town team. I would pay half the price to watch one team instead of full price to watch all of them. Instead, we just boo Roger Goodell for making over $64M/yr while the rest of us get shut out of games. Oh wait, it’s the 2-7 Giants vs the 2-7 Panthers. Must see TV! Start without me.
