… in the Giants. Here’s why:
- Schoen has had one big draft haul, and these rookies are shining. Consider
- Nabers is an All Pro
- Nubin is playing nearly every snap this season
- Phillips is a football player
- Johnson had 5 receptions vs SEA and
- Tracy was the rookie (not named Jayden Daniels) of Week 5
- The Offensive Line is keeping Jones clean. Since week 1, they have allowed an average of less than 2 sacks per game.
- Yes, Jones is playing better. His two deep passes to Slayton were important to my view. If he can start consistently throwing the ball better down the field, it will change everything.
- Jones is in his contract year
- The Giants offense was excellent without Nabers, the biggest star on the Offense. That speaks to resiliency, depth of capable playmakers, and Daboll’s scheme/playcalling.
- Big things lay ahead for Tracy as long as he can pick up the blitz and hold onto the football.
- The NY Giants Defensive Line leads the NFL in sacks.
- Opposing QBs are getting the ball out of their hands 0.32 seconds faster vs the Giants than their other 4 opponents this season. This speaks to the pressure that they are consistently seeing.
- Deonte Banks can get trashed all they want at PFF, but when you face the best in the NFL and come back for more, I am good with that. Jefferson, McLaurin, Cooper, Lamb, and Metcalf are going to get theirs. Banks is managing with the toughest assignments. Next week it is Chase, who lit up the Ravens for 193 yards. Onward.
- Generally speaking, the Secondary is “matriculating.” This is the best outcome we could have hoped for. After Week 5, they are still a work in progress but they are not getting gashed. Burrow, Chase and Higgins will be a good test. So far, so good.
- Dexter Lawrence is arguably amongst the best in the entire NFL at any position.
No, I am not ready to think playoffs yet, but 7-10 looks good and 8-9 is very possible. That is with Washington sweeping the Giants.
