While the 2025 NFL draft order might not seem kind to the New York Jets considering their late-season wins pushing them down the board, there still will be talent for them to choose from.
In the NCAA college football semifinal, many were watching if Abdul Carter would suit up for Penn State against Notre Dame. A shoulder injury had him sidelined, but he makes such an impact everyone was curious about him.
Could he end up doing the same for the Jets? Our friends at Draft Wire think so.
In their latest mock for the upcoming draft, Carter is the selection for New York in Round 1. The Jets are slated to pick at No. 7 overall.
Here is the breakdown on the pick:
With the top two quarterbacks off the board, the Jets opt for the best pass rusher in the draft and hope for quarterback help elsewhere.
While the Jets’ first-round pick might have dropped the team out of “top-QB range,” there are benefits in being right behind that. Teams in the NFL often over-draft quarterbacks, allowing other top talents to fall and that’s where New York could strike.
Carter had 12 sacks in 16 games for Penn State in 2024 and was a force. The Draft Network has massive praise for Carter, as the outlet projects him to have All-Pro potential.
In New York, Carter would slide into a defensive line led by Quinnen Williams in the middle along with Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson off the edge.
