Aaron Rodgers didn’t exactly have a humble response when asked about the New York Jets receiving six prime-time games for the 2024 season.
During an interview with Adam Schein, the four-time MVP said the Jets will be on national TV an awful lot because fans want to see him play.
“We are must-watch TV, and that’s pretty obvious – everyone knows that,” Rodgers said. “Whether you love me or hate me, people want to see me play, they enjoy watching me play. We are a team to watch this team.”
Rodgers isn’t entirely wrong. His first season with the Jets ended before it really started due to a torn Achilles in Week 1.
Some may say the Jets “owe” NFL fans a bounce-back year since they played so many prime-time games without Rodgers. However, he doesn’t see it that way.
“As far as us owing people, that’s fine, whatever,” Rodgers explained. “I don’t care what anybody has to say about that. It was [expletive] for me, it was rough for the league, I get it. Me only playing a few plays last year – that’s going to be different this year. What happens when we pay them back this year with six great prime-time games? What are they going to say next year?”
Rodgers isn’t backing down from the smoke, that’s for sure.
The Jets will begin their season on the road against the San Francisco 49ers, a team that Rodgers has plenty of history with.
