ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has a knack for getting under everyone’s skin with his occasional personal commentary on the sports stories he covers. The latest thing he’s done to annoy people involves a rather bizarre tweet about New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Rodgers openly acknowledged the likelihood that if the Jets fail to play well in 2024 that he and many others are probably going to lose their jobs. But Schefter decided to weigh in personally on the take – to no one’s amusement:
“The type of honesty that the public doesn’t always get from politicians,” Schefter wrote in his post on X.

NFL fans hated that commentary as many consider Rodgers’ stances on vaccines and politics to be harmful. As a result, users have been giving him the business in his replies on X:
“Rodgers may be more full of (expletive) than any football player in history, and many of his lies have been in the service of harmful and dangerous ideology. But go on polishing the man’s (expletive), Adam,” one user replied.
“What the (expletive) are you even talking about? That’s not even honest, it’s the way life is for everyone… except we aren’t multi-millionaires you pretentious (expletive),” wrote another.
“I fail to see what’s so “honest” about this. Fairly typical answer, but please, continue insisting this guy sounds smarter than he is,” a third wrote.
Aaron Rodgers and Adam Schefter have some history together. Rodgers publicly admonished Schefter last season for misreporting information about him in the weeks leading up to his trade to the Jets, famously telling the ESPN insider to “lose his number.”
Clearly Schefter is trying to mend the fences.
Spoiler: It’s not going to work.
