Former first round draft pick, OT Mekhi Becton, suffered a rather serious knee injury during an offensive line drill on Monday. Initially the team did not consider it to be severe but a later MRI exam revealed a more serious injury that’s going to indefinitely sideline Becton.
Becton injured the same knee that required season-ending surgery last September but this, according to various sources, is a different injury. He will have additional tests tomorrow but the Jets assume that Becton will miss significant time.
Becton was an 11th overall pick and many expected him to be the Gang Green’s starting left tackle for years to come. However, weight problems and recurring injuries will more than likely put an early end to his once promising NFL career. Becton started in 14 games over the last two season. He also missed 18 games due to injuries.
