Former Jacksonville Jaguar linebacker Quincy Williams will likely be on the trade block since the New York Jets are building under head coach Aaron Glenn. According to one report, there were plans in place for New York to extend Williams, but that was when the Joe Douglas- Robert Saleh partnership was still around, as they were open to extending him. After giving Jamien Sherwood a massive payday, it did snub out veteran CJ Mosley, who is still a free agent, and it should be no surprise if that’s the same case for Williams. The Linebacker is entering the final season of his three-year deal, so it seems like the Jets will probably try to trade him if any suitors want to take a chance on him.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Murray State product began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing 11 games, but ultimately not finishing the rookie year, suffering an injury. Williams couldn’t get anything going in Jacksonville, so the team waived him and got right back on track by signing a new deal in 2023, putting on a good outing on the field. The Linebacker is no younger than Sherwood, and since he’s been depleting, he might have to settle for a middle-class contract if the Jets decide to keep him. As he’s one of the top off-ball linebackers, Williams could earn himself a reasonable deal if a team trades for him, and these five rosters probably would.

Potential Destinations
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers need a makeover at the linebacker position after releasing Joey Bosa. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh wants to win ball games in the trenches, but it didn’t look promising as the team lost Poona Ford, who arguably had an “out of nowhere” season with them. Teair Tart may be back, but he was only explosive when Ford was still around, and Khalil Mack is coming back for what will probably be his last season. The team could start over and make something happen with Williams.
Baltimore Ravens
If anyone needs a new linebacker, it’s the Baltimore Ravens. Trenton Simpson had one of the worst seasons last year, but no fault of his own, he’s still adjusting to the league. The Ravens always have an explosive, but it hasn’t been the same since losing Jadeveon Clowney. However, guys like Kyle Van Noy, who is again and Roquan Smith need help, and Williams could provide some relief.
Kansas City Chiefs
This is the most logical destination for Williams. The Chiefs did not have a good campaign in their pass rush, despite having Chris Jones as one of the best defensive key playmakers. The team did attempt to fix the woes trading for Josh Uche, but with Nick Bolton returning, they still need an upgrade over Leo Chenal and Drue Tranquill. Williams might be aging, but he has a lot of juice to go on a Super Bowl run with one of the most complete teams in the league.
Carolina Panthers
Jadeveon Clowney will soon need a counterpart on the opposite end to replicate he success he’s been able to put up. Josey Jewell hasn’t been living up to expectations, and the Panthers will likely move on from him. Williams isn’t the edge rusher type, but he could make a few plays in the trenches.
Washington Commanders
For the Commanders, the future is bright on offense, but they could use some work on defense. Bobby Wagner may be returning, but the gas is running out. Frankie Luvu is a ball-hog monster and could use someone like Williams to replicate what he does.
