Hours before their week 14 matchup against AFC East rival Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the New York Jets will be without a key contributor. Nursing an ongoing knee injury, star running back Breece Hall has been ruled out. The injury stems from the torn ACL Hall suffered in 2022 vs. the Broncos. Hall was listed as doubtful on the team’s injury report on Friday.

Breaking News: Jets Without Star Running Back Breece Hall vs. Miami Dolphins
The 2024 New York Jets season has been an utter disappointment. From Super Bowl aspirations to one loss away from a 3-10 record, the team has been struggling. Now with a matchup against an improved Miami Dolphins defense, the team’s down a key cog in the offense. Breece Hall hasn’t capitalized like many hoped. After over 1,500 scrimmage yards last season; the Jets running back has regressed with the new offensive line. Through 13 games, Hall has 692 yards on 164 carries with a career-low average of 4.2 yards per carry. He’s been able to make plays as a receiving back, but his targets have significantly dropped with Aaron Rodgers. Hall finished with 76 receptions between Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemien, and Tim Boyle as his quarterback. Unfortunately in 2024, Hall has 46 catches for 401 yards through 12 weeks.
Lingering issue?
While dealing with a lack of production, there are some theories for Hall’s decline. If you recall, Breece Hall suffered a torn ACL vs. the Denver Broncos in October 2022. As a result, Hall’s injury cut his rookie season short before Halloween. Hall spent the remainder of 2022 rehabbing but appeared healthy in 2023. Hall rushed for nearly 1,000 yards the following year, not even a full calendar year removed from the initial surgery.
Hall’s practice schedule this week was light due to ongoing knee issues, the same one he tore his ACL previously. It could be speculated he potentially re-aggravated the injury which played a role in his lack of production. It’s a situation New York should monitor with care as the off-season looms.

Due to Hall’s absence, New York will rely on the rookie duo of Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis at running back. Allen, the fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin flashed great potential in limited action. His 56 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns were the difference maker in New York’s victory over the Titans in week 2. He has 240 rushing yards on 67 carries and two touchdown runs. Isaiah Davis; the Jets fifth-round pick out of South Dakota State scored his first career touchdown on a four-yard touchdown catch from Rodgers.
