Perhaps inspired by watching the Ohio State Buckeys with college football’s National Championship this year, the Jets appear to be looking closely at some of their former players to bolster their roster.
First they added quarterback Justin Fields on the opening day of free agency. He’ll join former teammates Garrett Wilson and Jeremy Ruckert who he connected with many times over in college.
Current Jets DB Kendall Sheffiled is another OSU alum who saw limited for Gang Green last season, and now Darren Mougey has added another Buckeye in center Josh Myers. A four-year starter with the Packers, Myers gets a 1-year deal to back up Joe Tippmann at center.
That gives the Jets a total of five OSU products on their roster with all but Sheffield being virtual locks to stick around. And given Sheffield’s versatility in the secondary, he may have a shot to stick around as the Jets look to implement a new defensive system.
