Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd apparently knows why New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t at mandatory minicamp this week.
On Wednesday’s edition of “The Herd,” Cowherd reported that Rodgers is absent from practice because he’s on vacation overseas.
“An event? I was told last night from a source I trust, Aaron is on vacation and it’s overseas,” Cowherd said. “I was also told you’ll learn about where he’s at tomorrow. I don’t want to burn my source. I’m told you’ll learn about it tomorrow.”
Cowherd then criticized the current makeup of the Jets.
“This is sort of what you would expect,” Cowherd said. “Impulsive owner, new GM, coach with a losing record, prickly, older, at times arrogant, disconnected quarterback in New York City with a pretty relentless – and in arguably massive- press core. This is what you get.”
Jets head coach Robert Saleh claims he’s on the same page with Rodgers. And yet, he said it was an “unexcused absence” just 24 hours ago.
“Aaron and I are on the exact same page,” Saleh told reporters Wednesday. “There’s no issue between Aaron or his teammates, for that matter. We addressed it yesterday. It’s more of an issue for everyone outside the building than it is inside.”
Only time will tell if Saleh and Rodgers are truly working together. For now, the Jets will have to operate without their star quarterback.
