Aaron Rodgers was reportedly a no-show at Jets mandatory minicamp today and it quickly got fans speculating about the QB’s whereabouts.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, coach Robert Saleh told reporters that Rodgers’ unexcused absence was for an event “important to him” and that he is subject to fines.
Guesses as to where Rodgers could be ran the gamut on social media.
“Let’s take bets on what this event is,” a user replied. “My guess is it’s a conference to create a new religion centered around mushrooms and the music of Coldplay.”
“At this point Saleh gotta be contemplating not showing up to work himself,” another said.
“Campaign announcement upcoming #Jets fans..” a person laughed.
“I don’t understand why the Jets just wouldn’t lie and say it was excused even if it wasn’t. Why create any controversy here?” Jimmy Traina asked.
“An absolutely unhinged podcast interview is about to drop,” another fan predicted.
“Jets football is [expletive] back!!” a New Jersey native tweeted.

Pass-rusher Haason Reddick, who wants a new contract, is also not present.

As Rapoport followed-up, it’s worth noting that Rodgers has been present for OTAs and pretty much all of the other Jets team activities this offseason.
Back in January, the four-time MVP was quoted saying: “Anything in this building that we’re doing individually or collectively that has nothing to do with real winning needs to be assessed. Flush the [expletive].”
