Haason Reddick’s career with the New York Jets might end before he ever takes a snap. Reddick, who the Jets acquired in a trade with the Eagles this offseason, has officially requested a trade from New York.
Reddick made it clear when he was traded by the Eagles that he was seeking a new contract but he and the Jets have been unable to come to an agreement for the 2024 season. With no deal done yet, Reddick wants to be traded (again) in hopes of landing with a team that will grant him his contract wish.
It’s not surprising that Reddick wants to be dealt considering he’s held out all offseason and skipped every practice, but the Jets have no plans to trade him.

Shortly after news broke of Reddick’s trade request, general manager Joe Douglas put out a statement in response. He left no doubt about the Jets’ plans with Reddick, saying they will not trade him and he will continue to be fined for every day of practice that he misses.

This standoff has no end in sight, but it’s not a great look for the Jets that they traded for Reddick without a contract ready to go. The start of the regular season is just a few weeks away and it’s very possible that New York will kick things off without its talented edge rusher on the field.
