In a natural New York media way, the headlines surrounding Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers have included a couple of doozies this season.
Most recently, some have involved his short-term future in two distinct categories: Being benched or placed on injured reserve.
As of now, neither will happen but it’s worthwhile to know what has been said.
After a report stated that team owner Woody Johnson wanted to bench Rodgers early in 2024 surfaced, the team has gone on to deny any of those thoughts ever taking place. Most recently, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said there is “absolutely” no such conversations happening.
Relating to injury, those got interesting. Rodgers denied a a another report which said he refused to get medical scans done which could have potentially revealed an injury.
During his weekly appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers added he would “never willingly” go on injured reserve without needing to.
On the flip side, Ulbrich said it was “news to him” when he was first asked about a “refusal” by Rodgers to get scans done.
Just another chapter in the 2024 Jets (3-8)–who will continue their campaign against the Seattle Seahawks (6-5) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
