Heading into their bye week, the team announced that Carlson has been signed to the team’s 53-man roster.
Carlson had been the Jets’ kicker already, but he was doing so from the practice squad. Now he’s on the actual roster.
In a corresponding move, defensive tackle Bruce Hector was released.
Carlson has only attempted one kick for the Jets in his lone game with the team. He made it.
Prior to Carlson taking the kicking job, Spencer Shrader was doing so. However, he remained on the practice squad and the Kansas City Chiefs signed him. The Jets could have retained Shrader, but they were clearly were fine with Carlson.
But why make such a mistake twice? Carlson now can’t be signed by anyone.
Jets Wire will continue to provide all roster updates throughout the 2024 NFL season.
