The Jets are moving in a different direction at quarterback.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported on Sunday that the Jets have decided to not bring back Aaron Rodgers in 2025. Dianna Russini of The Athletic added a few details this week.
The Jets have now publicly announced that Rodgers will not return as the team’s quarterback in 2025.

The trade for Rodgers will not be remembered fondly. Rodgers missed all but four plays in his first season as the Jets stumbled to a 7-10 record. The team then posted a worse record in year two when Rodgers actually did play. During that season, Rodgers showed steep signs of decline and struggled through the worst year of his career. Along the way, the Jets upended their roster and salary cap in an incorrect belief the team was close to being a Super Bowl contender.
The best thing you can say about this era is that it’s over. It’s hopefully a new day with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey.
