The New York Jets have finally fired head coach Robert Saleh. This move should have happened at least 2 years ago but it’s better late than never, as they say. Saleh, who was hired in 2021, had a measly .357 winning record (20 wins, 36 losses) in 3+ seasons with the Gang Green. This is the first time in Woody Johnson’s tenure as team owner that head coach was fired in the middle of the season.
Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will become the team’s interim coach. Ulbrich, 47, is a former NFL linebacker who played 10 seasons for the 49ers. He then spent 6 years with the Atlanta Falcons as linebackers coach, assistant head coach and defensive coordinator. Saleh hired him as Jets defensive coordinator in 2021.
