The New York Jets have finally completed their search for a new general manager, as they hired Darren Mougey to lead the team’s front office. Mougey, 39, has been assistant GM with the Denver Broncos since 2022. He’s been with Denver since 2012 when he started as a scouting intern.
Mougey was one of 15 candidates that the Jets interviewed for their GM position. He played college football at San Diego State and then was signed by the Falcons as an undrafted free agent and subsequently released. One year later the Cardinals also gave him a chance before training camp but Mougey once again failed to make the team.
He had much better success as a scout, starting as an intern, then getting promoted to an area scout, director of player personnel and eventually assistant GM.
