https://player.anyclip.com/anyclip-widget/lre-widget/prod/v1/src/lre.jsIt has not been a good 2024 NFL season for the New York Jets.
Linebacker Jamien Sherwood has been a silver lining during it and he has a very nice honor to show for it.
Sherwood ended up starting all but one game this year for New York’s defense. There was a lot of worry with him replacing CJ Mosley, who was out for most of the season because of a slew of injuries.
Sherwood quickly silenced any concern with a top-tier campaign. For his efforts, Sherwood has been named the Jets’ MVP in 2024 by those who matter to him most: His teammates:

Sherwood played so well he could be considered a 2025 Pro Bowl snub… but he will appreciate this.
A pending free agent, he’s likely the No. 1 player folks around New York will want re-signed this offseason.
Sherwood has 152 tackles, by far a team-high, with 10 of those for loss, two sacks and three passes defended.
Pro Football Focus metrics suit Sherwood well, too. The football analytics outlet has him graded as the Jets’ best starting defender in 2024 with a 74.5 overall mark, good for the 13th best linebacker grade in the entire NFL.
The Jets named other locker room award winners as well and that full list can be found below:
