The New York Jets will have Nathaniel Hackett call plays for this upcoming season.
Head coach Robert Saleh confirmed the news to the media on Tuesday.
“It’s about building an offense that can weather the storm of injury,” Saleh said. “Last year we got caught behind the 8 ball.”
The Jets are hoping that their offense will be vastly improved for this season and a big reason for that would be the return of Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers barely played last season because of a torn Achilles and is hoping to stay healthy for the entire 2024 season.
Their offense couldn’t do much with Zach Wilson at the helm for most of last season and it was one of the biggest reasons why they missed the playoffs again.
Having Rodgers back for a full season with Hackett can unlock quite a bit for this unit. Both are no strangers to one another since they worked together in Green Bay just a couple of seasons ago.
The Jets will start their 2024 season against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football on Sept. 9.
