In what has likely grown to become the most extensive search for a head coach and general manager you’ve ever seen, Josh McCown is one of the latest candidates to interview with the Jets. The former Jets signal caller and former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores were in town for the job. The total number of candidates interviewed for the two positions is at 30 and could still grow before a decision is made.
It also appears some of the top offensive candidates don’t want Woody Johnson’s money. Ben Johnson (Lions OC), Todd Monken (Ravens OC) and Liam Coen (Bucs OC) are three of the top names on the market and none have been requested for an interview by the Jets.
Antwan Staley of the Daily News was asked about Monken via x and simply said “It takes two to tango”, suggesting Monken wasn’t interested. San Francisco 49ers QB Coach Brian Griese turned down the Jets request for an interview as well.
Additionally, one GM candidate is off the market as the Tennessee Titans are hiring Mike Borgonzi. The Jets had Borgonzi in for an interview early in the process but he’s now off the board.
