Welcome back, Connor McGovern (again).
Ahead of facing the Indianapolis Colts (4-6), the New York Jets (3-7) brought McGovern back in the fold earlier this week. It’s the second time this season that McGovern is back in green and white.
McGovern returns to New York as he was claimed off the waiver wire via the New Orleans Saints this week. Prior to that, McGovern came out of potentially retiring this offseason. The 31-year-old signed to the Jets’ practice squad in September but was inked by the Saints in October.
McGovern first played in New York from 2020 up until last season as the team’s starting center. An MCL and knee injury ended his 2023 season after seven games played and it appeared that McGovern was going to call it a career.
With the Jets, McGovern will provide backup on the interior of the offensive line. New York guards Xavier Newman and Jake Hanson have been banged up. Starters John Simpson and Alijah Vera-Tucker thankfully returned to the lineup in recent weeks.
Jets Wire will continue to provide roster updates throughout the 2024 season.
