The Gang Green continued adding roster depth via free agency, as they agreed to terms with DL Byron Cowart and TE Stone Smartt.
Cowart, 28, was originally drafted by New England in the 5th round of the 2019 draft. He later played for the Colts before joining the Bears last season. Smart played 15 games (7 starts) for Chicago recording 26 tackles (14 solo) and 2.5 sacks. He also started 14 games for the Patriots in 2020.
Smartt, 26, spent his entire 3-year NFL career with the Chargers, who signed him in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. He’s started in 6 games over 3 seasons, making 31 catches for 380 yards, 1 TD.
