While pretty much everyone outside of the city limits of Florham Park, New Jersey has been ripping the New York Jets for Aaron Rodgers missing the start of mandatory minicamp, the people at One Jets Drive aren’t concerned.
The controversy began when Jets head coach Robert Saleh had the silly idea to call Rodgers’ absence “unexcused” even though the team apparently knew that Rodgers was going to miss the start of minicamp well ahead of time. A media firestorm has ensued and it’s starting to annoy the Jets’ top players.
Taking to X last night, Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner admonished people for making a big deal out of Rodgers missing two days of practice after being a part of all of their OTAs and other offseason activities.
“Are y’all really making a big deal because a 15+ year HOF QB missed 2 days of practice after being with the team all throughout Phase 1, 2, & 3 of OTA’s?? GG’s,” Gardner wrote.
Jets fans were delighted to see Sauce coming to the defense of their quarterback.
“People being upset about Aaron Rodgers having a vacay when we normies also use our vacay time even though our work is mandatory,” one user wrote.
“Jet for life,” wrote another.
“Sauce sticks up for his guy,” a third user declared.
Is Rodgers’ absence really as bad as people are making it out to be?
