The Zach Wilson saga is finally over. The biggest bust in the New York Jets history has been traded to the Denver Broncos. The Gang Green will receive Denver’s 6th round draft pick (#203 overall), while the Broncos get a Jets 7th rounder (#256 overall) along with the former #2 overall Jets selection. The Jets are also expected to pay some of Wilson’s $5.5M salary.
Wilson, 24, was selected #2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and turned out to be the biggest draft day mistake in the team’s history. Known for his athletic ability and strong arm, Wilson struggled to read coverages and folded under pressure. He started in 33 games for the Gang Green, posting a 12-21 record. He had a miserable 57% completion ratio, 23 TDs and 25INTs. Wilson was also sacked 113 times (basically every 10th passing attempt) and fumbled 17 times.
