The Jets go into the locker room trailing the Colts 13 – 7
The first half of the New York Jets week 11 game against the Indianapolis Colts is in the books, and the Jets are trailing the Colts by six points at 13 – 7.
The Jets opened the game on offense and quickly went three and out. After a Jets punt the Colts took over at their 20 yard line and drove deep into Jets territory. The drive was highlighted by a 31 yard bomb to a completely uncovered Josh Downs as the Jets recent defensive woes continued. The Colts eventually settled for a 41 yard field goal and an early 3 – 0 lead.
The Jets offense responded with a stirring three and out, picking up a mighty one yard on the drive, before punting in an impressive display of the Grunt and Punt offense,
After a Colts three and out, the Jets went on a scintillating three and out drive, highlighted by a Rodgers sack. The Grunt and Punt was being executed to perfection by an inspired Jets team.
A 33 yard catch and run from Anthony Richardson to Adonai Mitchell gave the Colts the ball on the Jets one yard line as the first quarter drew to a close. Two plays later Richardson ran it in to give the Colts a 10 – 0 lead as the second quarter got underway. The Jets Grunt and Punt offense resulted in 8 yards of total offense in the first quarter. Brilliant.
The Jets opened the second quarter with a thrilling 9 yard drive before being stopped on fourth down and turning the ball over on downs. Major progress was made, as three and out turned into four and out on this drive.
The Colts tacked on a field goal for a 13 point lead with just over six minutes left in the half.
The Jets Grunt and Punt then accomplished another three and out. The Jets were painting an offensive masterpiece as the clock wound down on the first half. A half without a first down is a sublime rarity, but it was beginning to look like the Jets were up to the challenge.
After the Colts followed the Jets lead with a three and out of their own, the Jets took over with the ball deep in their own territory and just over two minutes to play. They proceeded to finally get something going on offense. A big catch and run by Davante Adams gave the Jets the ball inside the Colts 35 yard line, and a couple of plays later Breece Hall took a catch and run to the house to get the Jets on the scoreboard.
