Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets
Good morning Gang Green Nation! ESPN is out with an article listing the Jets’ five biggest needs. It’s no surprise the Jets have a lot of needs, but the complete lack of any proven NFL talent at so many positions is disheartening. The Jets have Tyrod Taylor, who will be 36 years old and hasn’t started more than six games in any season since 2017, at quarterback. Behind him is a whole lot of nothing. The Jets have no proven talent at all at tight end. Assuming Davante Adams will be gone, the Jets have Garrett Wilson and a whole lot of nothing at wide receiver. They have Quinnen Williams and a whole lot of nothing at defensive tackle. They have no proven NFL talent whatsoever at safety. Former Jets general manager Joe Douglas has left the roster with a handful of stars and zero depth. Building this roster up to a level of the top teams in the NFL is going to be a big task, and it’s going to take multiple years of smart signings and good drafts. Aaron Glenn and Doug Mougey are talking about winning right away, but that would take a great draft with multiple immediate NFL average or better starters, multiple successful free agent signings, pulling a rabbit out of the hat at quarterback, a lot of development among the team’s recent draft picks, and a lot of good luck in the team’s stars staying healthy. Piece of cake.
