The New York Jets reportedly attempted to do the right thing for Aaron Rodgers.
The team and quarterback have gone their separate ways.
Exactly how that decision went down likely won’t ever be known. Follow-up reports are all over the place.
What ended up going down was the news of Rodgers leaving happened to surface over Super Bowl weekend.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Jets did not intend for that to happen.
Instead, the team wanted to chat with Rodgers when he was in the New York area. Once the split became known between both sides, the Jets wanted to give the 41-year-old the space to decide what he wanted to do with his future–keep going or retire?
Rodgers didn’t get much of that, but Pelissero’s entire breakdown does make it sound like it was a respectful breakup from both parties.
