The New York Jets conducted mandatory minicamp this week without veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The four-time MVP has been preoccupied with something else.
Longtime NFL reporter Jason La Canfora used Rodgers’ absence as an opportunity to criticize his political beliefs.
“If only Aaron Rodgers cared about football as much as he did conspiracy theories and anti-science the Jets might have a fighting chance,” La Canfora wrote on social media. “Oh well. Same as it ever was.”
La Canfora is taking some heat for this post. Some fans believe his comments were unnecessary.
Back to the topic at hand, Rodgers’ absence has been labeled as unexcused. At least that’s what Jets coach Robert Saleh said.
Colin Cowherd of FS1 reported Wednesday that Rodgers is on vacation overseas. That would be a terrible reason to miss mandatory minicamp.
“An event? I was told last night from a source I trust, Aaron is on vacation and it’s overseas,” Cowherd said. “I was also told you’ll learn about where he’s at tomorrow. I don’t want to burn my source. I’m told you’ll learn about it tomorrow.”
One thing is certain: Aaron Rodgers will face a ton of questions about his absence from minicamp once he returns.
