The New York Jets made one choice, but can’t seem to make the other.
Aaron Glenn has been hired as the new head coach in New York. That move was announced on Wednesday.
That decision was swiftly made and all signs pointed to Washington Commanders assistant general manager Lance Newmark being named the Jets GM. That’s because Newmark and Glenn have a history of working together while both were with the Detroit Lions.
Instead, the search for a new GM has expanded in New York.
The three finalists are considered to be:
- Darren Mougey (Denver Broncos assistant GM)
- Trey Brown (Cincinnati Bengals senior personnel executive)
- and, Newmark
Mougey and Brown are having second interviews with the Jets on Thursday… and CBS Sports reports the team could move very quickly after that. According to their report, the Jets could decide on which of the three finalists will be hired by the end of Thursday:

Newmark had previously had his second interview earlier this week, the same day Glenn had his.
Despite Glenn since being hired, Newmark has not, but it does not appear he is out of the race. The Jets are just speaking to other candidates, and reported, then could quickly hire one of the final three.
