So it appears NFL insider Josina Anderson got it right when she told the NFL world roughly 24 hours ago that the Jets would be hiring Darren Mougey as their next general manager. The story is now being co-signed by Ian Rapoport.
A fast riser through the Broncos organization, Mougey went from scouting intern to assistant GM in twelve years. This, after serving in several different roles over that time. After being put at the head of the table for both college and pro personnel departments, Broncos GM George Paton elevated Mougey to be his right-hand man.
Denver’s draft results have been a mixed bag during that time but Mougey of course wasn’t making the picks so without being in the building, it’s impossible to give (or take) any credit for Mougey until he’s in charge.
Check out our breakdown of Mougey in the video above which was made before the move was confirmed.
