The New York Jets won’t have one of their top pass rushers at training camp this week.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Reddick will not be reporting to camp on Tuesday with the rest of the team as he continues to seek a new contract. He’s in the final year of his current contract and is set to make $14.5 million this year.
The Jets traded a conditional third-round pick that could turn into a second-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Reddick earlier this offseason. However, unless the Jets give him what he wants, he may not report to them for a while.
He also didn’t show up to any of the prior offseason workouts, including OTAs and minicamp.
Reddick is expected to be a key cog in the Jets’ defense if he gets paid. He finished the 2023 season with 8 total tackles, 11 sacks, and a forced fumble.
This was his second season with the Eagles after spending one season with the Carolina Panthers and four with the Arizona Cardinals.
For his career, he has compiled 410 total tackles, 58 sacks, 17 forced fumbles, and 19 passes defended.
Let’s see if the Jets can agree on a new contract with him.
