Did you know that the New York Jets rank No. 3 in opponent pass yards allowed per game?
Yet somehow, critics have decided to omit All-Pro defensive back Sauce Gardner from contributing to that outcome.
The Jets (3-8) are also allowing just .7 passing touchdowns per game but these aren’t the stats that defend Gardner from his extremely biased critics.
So biased, they won’t even consider the needed pick the Indianapolis Colts (5-6) used to offset him in the first-quarter in Week 11.

In the 28-27 loss, the Colts yielded a time of possession of 34:26, meaning New York’s defense spent a tedious 67 plays on the field. For perspective, the Philadelphia Eagles lead the NFL in total plays per game with an average of 65. Yet, Indianapolis still were forced to kick three field goals, three punts, and converted only six of 15 third downs.
Unless you are playing NFL Madden with injuries and fatigue turned off, you have to be astronomically delusional to expect your defense to hold a NFL offense to just one passing touchdown through 67 plays on defense. Yet, Gardner and the Jets defense did just that.

Meanwhile, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers left and has continued to leave the defense out to dry. New York’s offense totaled just ten first downs and were a dismal four for 13 on third-down attempts. Rodgers was sacked three times, the offense punted five times, and the Jets defense was asked to save the day like they’ve been asked to all year.
Against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 20, New York’s defense had to survive a brutal 66 plays on defense, in a game where Rodgers threw two interceptions, posted a scoreless second-half, and went three for ten on third-down.
Consider, this season Gardner was stripped of his head coach, defensive coordinator, and now he is being scorned by aimless critics who are hyper vigilant in their quest to avoid criticizing Rodgers.
For the sake of the morale of the youthful players in the Jets’ locker room, hopefully Rodgers retires at the end of this season. His toxic campaign has cost honorable men their employment and has ruined team chemistry in the Jets’ locker room. Gardner’s reign as a top five defensive back hasn’t declined at all, but at this point, teams can hope the franchise might be silly enough to let him go as well.
