It didn’t work out well last year, but the NFL is again shining a bright light on the New York Jets.
The league unveiled the 2024 regular-season schedule on Wednesday night. New York’s slate includes six primetime games, all before its Week 12 bye.
According to NFL analyst Warren Sharp, the Jets are the first team to ever play six primetime games in the first 11 weeks.
ESPN, NBC, and Amazon Prime Video will certainly hope for a better outcome in 2024.
After the Jets acquired Aaron Rodgers, the NFL also scheduled them for six primetime games last season. The MVP quarterback made his team debut on Monday Night Football, but he suffered a season-ending ACL tear on the opening drive.
Networks instead treated viewers to Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle under center. The Jets finished 7-10 with the second-worst offense.
For the second straight season, Gang Green opens their season on Monday Night Football. They’ll hope Rodgers plays the whole game when he returns home to California to face the San Francisco 49ers.
Thursday Night Football will host an AFC East clash between the Jets and New England Patriots in Week 3, and ESPN will bring the Jets back to play the Buffalo Bills in Week 6.
Six days later, the Jets will oppose the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. They get another Thursday night draw against the Houston Texans on Halloween (Week 9) before playing the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night in Week 11.
Following their bye, the Jets will play their next five games on a Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. Start times for Week 18 remain undetermined.
